The Syracuse Parks Department, along with the Wawasee Kiwanis Club and Wawasee Youth Football, have begun the inital step to turn what used to be know as "Vega Field" into a youth sports complex. "Vega Field" was purchased by the Town of Syracuse in the fall of 2010 from the Wawasee Community School Corporation. A committee has been established to work on the development of the Syracuse Youth Sports Complex.
A total of $30,000, a $10,000 grant fromt the Harkless Foundation and a $20,000 from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, has been raised toward this project with another $80,000 pledged in a matching grant from the K21 Foundation.
